I've got an M with a narrow front and two hydralic remotes. Can an after factory power steering unit be added to this tractor? If so, what do I need....a charlyn motor? How much money would I be looking at for this? Thanks

Our M had a distributor drive pump for the hydraulics, and a belt drive auto style pump for the power steering. They both worked fine, but I think if you used a priority valve and just the distributor drive pump it would work the same.

DJ,

A new motor and priority valve will set you back $685 plus you'll have to find a bracket somewhere to mount the thing. Add the hoses and fittings and you're easily over $700 if you use new stuff.

I used all used pieces on my H including the pump and after the dust settled, it crowded $1100. :>(

I got my live hydraulic and power steering done up for around $650 with all new parts. Took about a year and a half of shopping around to do it, but I wasn't in a hurry.

Watch eBay, watch the ads on this site, etc. and you can get by cheaper.

Northern Tool has the priority valve for around $75, my pump cost around $375, and I scored a complete power steering set up for an M for $300 and sold the extra pieces for $200 so I got the torque motor for $100. Just takes time to find the deals...
