Have a chance to get a D 282 from a TD 6. Want to put it in a SWD 6. The frame rails are 4 inches wider on the dozer, can someone tell me if the F560 was wider also? (same motor) I know the rails would have to be extended that"s ok, but I wouldn"t want to make it wider.

I'm not at all familiar with crawlers, but the original engine in a TD6 was a start on gas 4 cylinder D248; the D282 in a 560 was a 6 cylinder, the engines are in no way related. The SWD 6 had a D264, I do not know if the D248 in the TD6 was upgraded to a D264 or not, as I have never heard of a Super TD6. That is not to say you can't put the D282 in your 6 series tractor, but it is not a direct bolt in.

The TD 6 went to the 282 (6 cyl) in the late sixties. It was not labeled a super, simply called a late series. I know that the motor is not a simple drop in as the frame rails would need to be extended 4 inches. I am mainly trying to find out if the motor is physically an acceptable width to fit between the frame rails. As always thanks for the input. Geoff

560 is right about 19 3/4" wide across the frame rails. Don"t know about a Super W-6. I was thinking a 560 was the same width as an M, so by rights your W-6 engine should be the same width. Remember, the TD-6 may not have the same front cover and rear plate as a 560.
