I"m planning on breaking apart my 1568 next week to fix 2nd gear and put a new T/A in it. The question I have is were to get the best T/A that isnt over priced. I read in an earlier post about a Hy-capacity and an Allied brand ?? whats the differences? Or would you go to the IH dealer and get one?? I"m restoring the tractor but may pull it 2 or 3 times a year just playing with it. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance , Chad

Over on the Red Power site they posted that Hy Cap uses the same junk sprag that IH does. And that Allied uses the heaver sprag that Aer-vac started putting in the late 80"s. I only put in the Allied TA"s

Hy-Capacity is by far the best aftermarket source for IH parts. I've got their clutch kit in our 706 and 826, and I've got a seat cushion set from them on the 706. Best quality seat I've ever seen. As far as TA's go, they've got a standard-duty TA, a heavy-duty TA which has a bigger sprauge clutch, and a spraugless TA which uses a hydraulic clutch pack for TA range instead of the sprauge clutch. I've always wanted to try a spraugless TA, but they're pretty expensive, and I've heard that they don't shift smooth. I'd say go for the heavy-duty TA.

Well i sold Hy Cap for 19 years and befor i chose one brand i did alot of asken and resurch and that is why i chose Hy Cap . I never had a come back and all the ones i installed are still in the field worken so you chose . If it is installed as per instructions it will last a long time and on your tractor i would go with the HD unit it is reasionable in price and it will stand up . Now is the time to do it wright with a new clutch and pressure plate and all new bearings and take a good look at the PTO input shaft and the bearing and if it is so so then replace it at that time . If you have any questions then i can walk ya thru the whole thing with all the set up . Oh yea install a new MCV pump and get a MCV spring kit and seal and gskt pkg . And you will need to get a hyd fitting to go into the bottom plug on the MCV and a hyd. gauge that will read 600 lbs to set pressure or atleast check pressure.
