Which is the most desirable as a collector tractor as well as one for occasional use such as mowing, raking hay, or pulling a trailer? Thanks for your input.

As for collectibility, I think the BN is better. I think they made fewer of them, so they are more rare. As for usability, they are probably close to each other. The BN may be easier to trailer around. I just bought a B, and I am trying to find a way to get it on a trailer. With the tires in as narrow as they will go, it is still 80" on the outsides. My trailer is 74", so I will probably have to remove the tires and rims to get it hauled. If it were a BN, it would not be a problem.

I like my BN's. They fit in narrower places and turn in an amazingly small circle. Hard to find mounted implements to fit it though. Dave

I have found one, a BN, about 100 miles away and am thinking of going to look at it. It has a belly mower but I do not what kind. It has sit outside for 2 years but muffler has been covered. The person with whom I talked did not know if it is siezed or not. Two new rear tires were put on it 2 years ago. They parked at the end of the summer and have not used it since. Thanks for the response.

Several years ago I purchased a Farmall B that had sat in an open field for 25 + years with a tin cans over the exhaust and crankcase vent. By the time I found it and brought it home the cans had pinholes rusted through and there was quite a bit of water/sludge in the oil pan. After cleaning out the pan and oil pump, soaking the pistons with Marvel oil, and replacing the plugs and wires, she fired on the third turn of the crank. You should see the black ring that it left on a shop light fixture that was above the exhaust pipe, I thought the acorns and leaves that shot out of it were going to break the florescent bulbs!

I originally bought the B as a parts tractor for a BN restoration we were doing at the time, but the B has been in use ever since she fired. I would say that the BN your are thinking about is worth the drive over to see if it's only been sitting out for two years, don't forget a trailer and your check book.
