Sometimes when you press the starter button, all you get is,click. Don will put a charger on it and the starter will engage immediately when button is pushed. Other times it starts exactly as it should. Batteries are two years old but were drained down for two weeks when the key was left on. If a battery was bad, wouldn't that cause the engine to roll over slowly everytime? It cranks just fine. Is the solenoid bad? Can they get dirty or sticky? Hate to buy parts I don't need to rep;ace.

Thank you for the input.I will try to clean up the contacts. He showed up last night with a TIKKA T3 7mm-08 as an early birthday gift, because of the help I have given him. Some of this help has come from here. Thank you very much,
SDE

Don't overlook the battery cable which goes to the solenoid[ heavy]. Our 1066 gave fits about 2 years ago with the same troubles you are having. Turned out to be the cable end which attaches to the solenoid ate out between that & the stud. Evidently there was enough paint on the connection to cause the no-start condition. Cleaned everything up, & have had no problems since.

SDE: What you need is a new solinoid, however you might try a trick I use to do with 560, 656 and 1066. Take the solinoid off. Under that plastic cap is a brass washer that makes actual contact to starter. Clean that washer up with sandpaper. It may not work, may last a week and could last 5 years. Be careful when you remove the cap as small wires are attached to terminals. It's best to take nuts off those, push them out, so they can stay with solinoid.

While you have it apart you can also turn the two large terminals in the cap so you get better contact.

Ya forgot to tell him to turn the two bolts over as this is where the ware is and if ya flip the two post bolts over your good to go , did that on the 1066 this spring and looken like i need to do it on the 806 as it did the click click thing this evening when we went to take the bale wraper off and put the culivators on it . I have to narrow up the culivator from 38 to 30 inch rows that the job for tomarrow.
