Kinda Dumb Question For Someone Thats Restored 8 Tractors Before, But Is the Transmission And Diff. And Hydraulic Oil All the same on a 240 Utility. Cannot Find Oil Level Plug and don"t know how much oil to add. I Lost some when had 2 pt. cyl off to paint. owner does not have a manuel. All I Can see Is Drain On bottom Of Diff. And Filler Plug On Top Of Diff. Oil In Diff. Looks Same As Hyd. Oil. Am I Missing Something? Thanks For Any Help.

Thanks For The Info Guys, But Is Their Supposed To Be A Dipstick On Hyd Oil Reservoir fill Cap?
I don't Have One But Can See Oil About 2 In Below Filler Hole. I Found The Check Plugs For Diff. And PTO. This Is Too New For Me I'm Used To Letter Series. Also Too Much Stuff On These To Take Off to Sandblast And Paint.

There is no dipstick on the factory fill/check plug. Why not drain it, put in the required 5.5 qts. and make a note of the fluid level for future reference. I haven't found a fluid level requirement in the operator's manual so I kept mine filled to the top.

Hydra-Touch (hydraulic) System reservoir is in the torque tube. Capacity is 5.5 qts (IH Hy-Tran Fluid). Fill/check plug is in the top of the front left (as determined from the driver's seat) of the torque tube, just behind the bell housing flare. Drain plug is on the right side of the torque tube, below and to the rear of the starter. The trans/diff level plug should be found at the right rear of the trans/diff case, facing right, behind the axle trumpet, slightly above the center-line of the axle shaft and slightly below the center-line of the pto shaft. Capacity is 5 gal. with pto and belt pulley, 4 3/4 gal. without. (The Fast-Hitch assembly may make this plug hard to see/access).

Use HyTran. There should be a level plug somewhere on the side of the transmission case.
