Bolting the finders directly to the housing puts the finders close to the seat.....making it hard to get on and off....they make extender plates or you can make your oun, using 7/16" flat stock as wide as the finder mount and long enough to put the finder out even with the housing.....also cut 1" pieces of (i think) pipe to put under the plate on (on each bolt) the inside to hold the plate up off the housing....bolt finders directly to outer end of plate..... thats what I am going to do on my M ..... .hope this helps Don

Hi Don, I agree that many folks make an adapter to set the fenders out a few inches further. However I have never found it difficult getting on and off with the fenders in their standard position. I have two H's and an M all with fenders in the standard position. I guess its personal preference. I think fenders are better mounted by raising them an inch or so using longer bolts and spacers, again my personal preference...Mike in Exeter Ontario

H fenders don"t attach with U-bolts. They bolt directly onto the axel housings using standard bolts. Don"t know the size offhand.

Thanks! That makes it easy. I have regular bolts to play with.
