I am in the final stages of resto and total repaint of our '44 H and was wondering what the correct decals for the hood were. I understood that there was a change in that time period. Do I use the McCormick-Deering-Farmall decal or do I use the one with the IH insignia. Any help is apprerciated greatly...Thank You...Randy

Good luck on getting it finished for the 4th. Looks like your H was built about 1/2 way between my two. What part of MN are you in? I'm @ Mithcell, SD, SE part of the state. (Another $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

Thanks all for the replies and encouragement, all I really have left is painting all the rims and really minor details. I ordered the seat, grill badge and brake return springs yesterday. I will get her fired up next week, wheels on and hopefully good to go. Jal, I reside in Spring Valley Mn. 25 miles straight south of Rochester.

McDeer would be the right ones for a '44, I don't think the I-H decal came out until later, after the war. I've got two '44's, serial #'s 169168, which has been in the family since dad bought it new & 157394, that we've owned since about 1952. Whats your serial #? I'd like to know where the ones just above or below mine are. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

Guy Fay's book isn't too specific.
"This tractor has the hard-to-find "McCormick-Deering" tradename decals accurate for 1939 to the mid to late 1940's."
The OEM catalog beaks them out as 1939-1944 for McCormick Deering and 1945-1952 with the IH logo.

Thanks so much for the info. I thought that the McCormick Deering was correct but I wasn't sure. My serial Number is 160925. I gotta get it done for the 4th of July parade so my dad can have his last ride on it. He's dying of cancer, and he's up at my shop every day he has the strength so he can watch its progress...Randy

Good luck, and spend whatever time you have to in making that parade. You'll have even more satisfaction from your Dad getting that ride than you anticipate. There's no expiration date on the good memories.

If you were closer, I'd come help you finish it!
