First off all, I would like to thank all who answered my last post. Second, I was talking to the service manager at my local IH dealer, who told me to take the cover off of the pump and look for a blown o-ring right behind the plate...does this sound right? Sometimes he is hard to understand with all the snuff in his lip!! So any who that is the plan for tomorrow. Hope it rains tonite (80 percent chance) because it is getting a bit dry here by the mighty Mississippi!

Thanks to all again!

Have you replaced the relief valve? Filter new? You could have an internal leak. Remove the top link bracket, start the engine, and see if there"s a large amount of oil spraying down from the rockshaft housing. If you do decide to pull the pump yourself, here"s a tip for reinstalling it- there"s a short tube between the pump and the filter housing. Leave it out, install the pump, and then install the tube into the pump through the filter housing. If you try to install the tube with the pump, you run a good risk of damaging the seal that seals off the filter housing from the transmission case, which will possibly cause an air leak, and will definetly cause a huge oil leak the next time you remove the filter cover.

I don't want to sound like I'm down grading your thoughts but for installing the pump I use a couple long studs and with the tube installed in the pump I can slide the assy. back in nice and straight and not damage the seal. The other thing is it shouldn't suck air because the tube is below oil level unless your really low on oil. I am open to any criticizum on this though.

There is one o-ring in the cover that will sometimes blow out. As you look at the cover, the top comes to a point somewhat, and that is where the o-ring is located. The only other o-rings are under the hyd pump and spacer block that are bolted to the cover. I didn't see your old post so I don't know whats been said or done. Do you know that the hyd pump is good? Did this happen all of a sudden or gradually getting slow? If you find that you need a new pump and would like more gpm's for some reason there is a 15 or 17(can't remember which it is off hand) gpm pump available but I would recomend putting in the tephlon o-ring in the cover because that will hold up better.

Thanks for the info. My previous post was last sat. or sunday. I bought this tractor last sring on an auction over south of Green Bay, and has proved to be worth every penny I paid for it. The problem with the hydraulics happend all at once, so I am hoping it is the o-ring.

Thanks again
