Could anyone tell me what grade bolts to use on the right final drive of my Super A. Im talking about the extension side. I have had this darn thing apart so long and the bolts were shot when I disassemled it that they were scrap and threw them out. I believe they were 7/16" bolts.

Thanks,
scotty

I would use Grade 8 or at least Grade 5. Find a place that sells nothing but bolts, nuts and screws. You will need to determine what size you need and the length. You can use a tap to find the correct size. Those threaded holes should have a tap run through them anyway. We have a company in Baltimore that sells only bolts, nuts and screws. If you need the phone number send me an email or post back. Hal

i would use the best you can find as there is pretty good load on the final drive. If just for parades mite be ok for lighter grade. I like to use the good ones if i need replacements. I have a couple of salvage that i can always rob one here and there. Mite want to clean the dowels as it sure makes putting back easier. I always clean the threads and lube them too with good lock washers. It sure would be a sight if the final drive would break could cause a red face.

Thanks guys!!! I guess I may as well use the grade 8 bolts. Whats a few bucks at this point!

Hal, on the extension side, they are through bolted. The other side they thread into the transmission. Those seemed to be OK.

Thanks for the heads up.
