thanks for your advise i did have a look and added a replie to my first post.
ive pulled the govenor off a dead engine i have and jumpped in the deep end, and supprised how simple it is the brass bushes have needle bearings and seem good only bad thing ive found is the small bearing is siezed and brass collar has spun on shaft dosnt seem to have halmed anything and bearing has worn in to the two pins on forks.does the govenor have to be timed because there are no marks on gear drive.
just want to know before i take the one off running engine. if i get new bearings and hopefully can make a good one of the two how do i syncronize govenor to carb.
thanks for your help adam

If the worn pins that ride against the bearing race are in bad enough shape, they can be pressed out of the yoke, rotated, and pressed back in. This will also improve the position of the clevis on the threaded link. Be sure to support the casting to prevent breakage. Yes, it's a poor man's fix, but it will be good for another 50 years.

Well to your first post if the spring is sloppy in the holes that is 80% of your problems and no the gov. does not have to be timed . To do the scy.first ya have to fix what ya find wrong then after thatis done and back on the tractor and hooked up correctly ya remove the plate with the tube on it and open the throttel wide open and remove the pin that goes to the cross shaft to the carb and if it will aligin up with the holes and slid in it is fine if not then ya have to adjust the clevis so the pin will slide in free . Then ya adjust the RPMs to spec. at full load ya can just add about 150 with no load and it will be close enough .

On carburetor end of the tube that runs from the governor to the carb, there's a connection where a square pin fits into a square notch. Get the pin in the notch, and you're set.
