You just have to set the head on the block without the head gasket, rotate the engine by hand till TDC, and see if it hits. if it does, then that slant will have to be ground into the head on the intake side of the combustion chamber. Some piston styles hit, some dont,, if the fire craters are from a late SM to 450,, then they will hit the 8060 and the 8574 heads,, if they are from a M,, you should be good to go and have no troubles. Look for firecraters that have the big diameter wrist pins,, those were used with both gas head versions and had no problems, the newer style engines, 400-450"s, the domes were wider across and needed the slanted side in the chamber to clear. on the 8060-8574 heads, the area in question is pretty thick,,, should be plenty of room to grind.
