The mag housing on my wd 9 broke, no big deal I have a box of extra mags. So last Sunday I tried to put one on and couldn't get the timing right. #1 on compresion; crank pulley on DC; bolt mag on; turn one full rev(all 4 stroks); turn towards engine till click. right thanks

Be sure the mag is for a diesel as they turn the opposite direction from the gas mags.

Don't quote me on this but I think the mags for the diesels rotate in the opposite direction, so unless the mags in the box are for a diesel they won't work.

Yur right, they turn in the opposite direction. If he's gettin spark, installed on the tractor, he must have the right mag.

A mag will fire in reverse but you will not get the spark you need or the timing right. Check the serial # on the mag you took off for a letter code at the end like H472904L or H472904D or no letter code at all like H472904_ No Letter the one you put on must be the same letter code or it will not work right . Now a D and an L are both LH trip mags but have a different timing one is 15 deg one is 35 deg and that will not work either. Also a mag that need rebuilding can be weak enough to not fire her corectly. JON
