John Deere sells a special soap for lubricating cylinder sleeve packings. Really, dish soap will work just fine. The Deere stuff comes in a large bottle, not worth buying for one engine, it only takes a few drops and you've probably already got a bottle of dish soap.

Just need a lube around the o-rings anything handy will work. Before putting the o-ring in the groove make sure the sleeve goes in easy. You will need to use a short cap screw and washer to hold the sleeve as when you start installing the pistons and rings and have to turn the engine over to tighten the rods the drag on the sleeve will pull it loose. Just dip the piston and new rings in new oil before installing in the new sleeve. NAPA has a good lube for the bearings when installing them. good luck

Please turn off the CAP lock. I have always been told to use dish washing liquid when installing wet sleeves.

I prefer Ivory liquid dishwashing soap, same as for changing tires.

Good luck,
Bill
