After the engine is heated up you pull the valve cover and adjust them with the engine at an idle.
Set them at .014" with a feeler gauge. Hal

The best way to do it or at least I think it is. Warm up the engine by running it about 30 minutes, you can have the hood off so you can get the valve cover off faster. Then when its still warm turn the engine over by hand and when a valve is pushed down adjust the valve that is closed and keep do each one that way. That way you know for sure that the valve you adjust is as closed as it can get and the adjust is correct. I.E. when an exhaust valve is open you adjust the intake and so on

Well if you look at the rocker arms one will be down/pushing the valve down and the other one will be up and should have some slack/play if you push down on and pull up on it, the valve side of it. When you take the vlave cover off and then turn it over by hand just watch the rocker arms and you wil understand better what I'm talking about. You almost have to be blind in one eye and not be able to see out of the other one to miss it. LOL

The valve next to it, same cylinder will be opening, pushed down.
