I can't believe it. Bought my first tractor from here, an H. Was rough with a bad bang in the engine. Opened up the bottom, spun rod bearing. One piston was cracked in half. Antifreeze in sludge/oil. Smoked bad. Got a a lot of good advice from people here. Most said to pull the crank, take that and the head to a machine shop. But me being me and always trying to do it for less, didn't do that. Instead, I trusted in the stories I'd read in here about guys finding an old Farmall that had sat for years, (like mine), changed the oil, filter, fresh gas and a prayer and she runs straight off. Well, I had to do more to mine, (one piston, 1 rod, 2 sets of rings, and 3 sets of undersized rod bearings. And I have never been inside an engine before. Watched grandad and my uncles on the farm, but never anything like this. So easy to get to everything to fix. I kept saying to myself as I was tearing down, "I can put this back, I can put this back too". Didn't have to set valves, adjust timing or anything. Got it all back together tonight, hit start, and she fired up immediately. Runs smooth and beautiful! I know I may have to re-repair some things I should've maybe done this time, but I really didn't have the money, and I just wanted to see what would happen with these repairs before I got into more. Called my grandparents, parents, uncle, girlfriend, sister, and best friend just so they could here it run. This is the greatest day of my life.
