Levi, I took the switch out in the sun today to recheck the markings on the backside. WhatI thought was PL at 12 o clock is RL-Rear light. INST at 10 o clock goes to panel light behind the gas tank. Sorry for the mistake. Remember my switch is for a 240 U but it looks the same as your picture. Check it out with a volt/ohm/multimeter set on X1. Put one lead on the 7 o clock terminal and check each switch position with the other lead. Hope this helps. Dave.

I'm restoring a IH 240 Utility and the picture of the switch looks identical to mine. It's a four position switch. I assume to the left is OFF. D is dim lights. B is bright lights. R is rear lights. Now for the bottom side. The terminal at the top (12) on my switch is PL-panel? light.Going clockwise,(2) HL-head lights. (4) TL-tail light. (7) BAT-Battery. This terminal has the biggest wire. (10)INST-not sure what this is for.I hope this helps GA Dave.

one goes to the amp + post and the other goes to the lights.

It should come from the fuse holder which then comes from the + post on amp

There is no sarcasm intended here, but in the time you have asked this same question, you could have ordered and received an operator's manual. I will give you what is is my 460 operator's manual, I doubt if it is much different, remember this is for a 12V generator, I do not know if your alternator makes a difference or not. Top middle, rear light; left resistor terminal, Instrument panel light; right resistor terminal, junction block, which splits off the the headlights; lower right terminal, switch to break away connector socket (in the rear somewhere around the tail light); lower left terminal, "lighting switch to rear light (taped back at one end)". Your picture is upside down to the one in my book, this is as close as I can get. Manuals are a BIG help -- you need one. I do not garantee my interpretation!!

Change the lower left terminal to "light switch to fuse housing", which in turn goes to the regulator L terminal -- since you have an alternator, you have to figure that one out. In my original post I had this one mixed up with the rear light.
