51 Farmall H Wire help

Here is somthing that I did wrong, the battery terminals I had those switched & the lights worked but for the short time that I did have them on the ammeter read from neutral to charge with the tractor running.

I switch everything back to the way it is in the book other than the ammeter wires & it is doing the same as I mentioned the first time around.

In the book it has a junction block in the wire housing on mine it dose not have one of these.
When I got the tractor everything but the lights worked I found that the fuse housing was bad so I replaced it but I wired it so the one wire went from the light switch to the fuse then from the fuse to the plus side of the ammeter & the lights worked.

Everything is original on this H but I am stumped on the wireing, it is the original cloth coverd wire so I can not tell by looking at it to see the ID on the wire saying what is what. Is the junction block a genaric or do I have to get an IH junction block, Could one be made.

If I installed the block would that solve my issues or could it be my voltage regulator is bad.

If some one could help me out on this I would greatly appreciate it.

I have been having a similar problem with that wiring diagram. I have a 42 H, and my ammeter box also differs significantly from the one in the book. I do not have a junction block (or at least not a separate one as shown in the diagram -- maybe it's built into the fuse housing / light switch block?). I also don't have a separate fuse "box" as shown in the diagram; my fuse is on the same block as the light switch. I've been comparing wiring diagrams from the internet, Bob M (on this site), and the manuals, and I can't find an ammeter set-up / ignition switch set-up that looks just like my H -- and I am so inept with electrical stuff, if I can't copy-cat it verbatim, I am stuck...
