I am completely new and inexpereinced in engine work and Farmall restoration. I was going to buy this set of books as guides. I'm interested to hear if anyone has read them, and if they are helpful.
Any other books out there that give ste-by-step instruction to rebuilding and restoration?

Are there any others that you would recommend for a complete novice to Farmalls and restoration?

I've never read those books but they couldn't hurt. I hear Guy Fays book is excellent for historical data. Once you Identify which tractor your buying, I know you want an H, buy the parts book, operators manual and shop manual. I have an I&T service manual as well as a re-print IHC shop manual. I have found that between the two I can fix anything. Only neither one explained how to pull the axels very well. These guys on here helped me out with out and it was the easiest big job I've ever done on any vehicle. Farmalls are maintenance friendly.

Have you ever heard at work the term IPB? (Illustrated Parts BreakDown) That is what us Aviation Maintenance Types call a parts book. It gives a good illustration of exactly how all the parts go together and part numbers for all of the parts which can easily be cross referenced at NAPA if they aren't available through Case IH. The only illustartion that I have found to be misleading is for the bull pinion/axel shaft.

"Us aviation types"?

I'm an Active Duty AT1 and an Aircrewman. Heck ya I know what an IPB is :)

Since you brought this up, which book is the MIM? (Maintenance Instruction Manual)

I'm an AEC. The MIMs would be the shop manual. There are two available, the I&T shop manual which is after market manual written by maintenance techs and the IHC shop manual. Get both they compliment each other well.

Operators Manual. As a designated NA I would call that the NATOPS manual.
