Well, she got a blue which is exceeds, wish I coulda got a purple- state fair quality, but the judge said, "I could nitpick at this thing all day" WADDYA WANT?! I'm only 16. But I'm happy. I was competing agaist a '50 H- which had the old wire harness and the pto linkage was fallen apart and the drawbar was beefed up, Allis WD or WD45- with cobbled togather mess on the front end and wrong paint, a '30 F-30, so I think, didn't have any decals on it, and a Oliver 88 With banged up sheet metal, all were FFA mine was 4-H. We've already been invited to several tractor shows;>. Been hot here not too metion humid, animals didn't take to well to it. Welp, I said enough. See ya later.

I'm a 4H leader and truely the effort you have made is tremendous (I remember the questions you asked here) and your work was intense. As stated in a different post below, before and during pictures and process log documents are a major resource for the judging. Without those in very fine shape, the judge has nothing to value the "amount" of work. If your docs were great, then the judge was nit picking. My two cents, great job, do show us pics.

every time I do one I learn things and I'm a lot older than you. I bet it looks swell.

Last time I checked FFA and 4H weren't judged against each other.

Did any of the tractors get advanced to State Fair?

Also the story or project paper work are very important. When I was in school I took a different tractor to FFA comp at State fair (was open and anyone in FFA could come). Always placed at the bottom. Had a couple of times that all the people that I knew that saw the offerings said I got hosed. Thing was my paperwork was a little lacking. Also the Advisor that usually had the majority tractors entered also set up the judging. Worst part was when I pick up at the official release time as I was supposed to they were long gone. Little did he know I was connected with the State advisor. Old man turned them in after I was done and couldn't enter anymore. Guess he was less than happy I think they had to give back their premiums for that year (boo hoo).

All this being said be happy with your tractor. If you want to the quality of the work will improve with time and you can take personal satisfaction in a job well done.

This is why I am not really in favor of Judging at the hobby shows. Same thing has ruined the old car hobby.

Just chock this one up to life experience

Last year at our fair, everyone who brought a tractor was awarded a very large, beautiful ribbon just for participating. The tractors weren't judged against each other and everyone had a great time.
