I purchased at auction an IH manure spreader, wooden box, topped off with metal. Two beaters, and a single auger, also a top load angle iron in front of the beaters. Tires are 7.50 x 20, two control levers, one for apron speed and the other for start, stop. I cannot identify where the decals were, only ID is the IH on some castings, and the odd one with the old logo IHC.
Could someone help me with the aproximate year of manufacture and the model number. Paid $150 and it looks like it would go right to work. Thanks...Darald

With 7.50X20 tires [I'm assuming rubber tires]this would be in the late 40's to the 60's. We have a # 40 with wood floor & sides topped off with a steel top that flares out all around the top of the spreader. Two beaters with widespread on the back. Mc Cormick and # 40 were on the wood part of the sides about 2/3 of the way to the front. A picture would help.

I have the book by C.H. Wendel "150 years of IHC" and this is what I can tell you...

The 100 and 200 model were steel sided with two beaters and an auger in the back, with a wooden floor. Those were made circa 1940 to 1955.

As for a full-wooden box spreader all I can determine is that the 4-A spreader started production in 1932 and was all-steel.

My educated guess is that a wooden spreader would have to be pre-1932 or is something not listed in the book.

If you would like scans of the manure spreader pages, shoot me an email and I can get them to you in a day or two.
