I've been looking around for a tractor that just might do what Mom needs around the small horse farm she has, and I think a 460 Utility just might fill the bill. Unfortunately, it seems that every one I see is--in MY eyes--grossly overpriced. Is there just more demand than supply for these things? I'm looking for a gas tractor with TA, PTO [some didn't have one or the other...some industrial loader tractors may not have had either]...fast hitch is my 1st choice, with 3-point arms; 3-point is second choice. Mostly what I've seen on the internet is junk for $2-3,000, stuff that would take a couple grand to make into what might be a $2,000 tractor. Considering Dad was selling NEW 706's in '63 for around $3,500, I'm having a hard time justifying the same money for a worn-out shadow of that. Or is there something wrong with my expectations? In the late '60's, a decent Cub was selling for $2500 with a Woods 42; these days, you can buy the same Cub for the same money. Is it speculators, or is the 460U a hot property, or are my expectations out of whack?
