I purchased a super c that was previously & poorly converted to a 12 volt system. I purchased new harnesses from the local dealer for under 50 bucks. They also provided me with good diagram.

old, I converted over with a new alternator from NAPA for this type of converion, using a new 12 vole coil also. Are you saying that the didodes in the alternator aren't enough? May be I have blown them out?

Was told long ago that in old tractors, a COMPLETE overhaul of the electrical system (wires, switches, battery, cables, spark plug wires, etc) every 15-20 years will solve a lot of woes. Has worked for me on several project tractors. Vibration & corrosion are your two worse enemies.

Good luck..... ..

I just changed mine over and it works perfectly. I completely rewired it while I was there. What are you having problems with.

Pete, I tried to wire my tractor up using the prints obtained from this forum. They looked clear, but the problem is me, and I work with electrical machinery. There is a short under the electrical housing because there is a good size spark. Changed the wiring with one wire, but nothing happen, so I jumped from the solinoid to the coil. To shut off I pull jumper and have to pull #1 wire off the alternater. Bob

Sounds like you first have a shorted/bad wire which needs to be fixed. And also you need a diode or marker lite in the wire going to the #1 terminal on the alternator or you can't turn it off becuase of alternator back feed

Forgot to tell you. I replaced all the old wiring with new.
