What price range would a set of 3/4 socket set with case from the 1970's be worth. Thanks.

Anywhere from $300 to $700 depending on how bad someone wants it.

When they were new they were only 89.95 at the dealer as my buddy bought one as it was cheaper then my SK set that i bought two weeks before he got his and his set coverded the same sizes from7/8 - 2 inch i gave 50 more for mine . So as for today i would say that anything over a 100 bucks is to much . Just ask and insurance adjuster how much your tools are worthe after they have been stolen and i don't care if ya just bought them yesterday.

I've seen quality name brand 3/4 drive sets bring well over $200 at farm auctions. The el-cheapo harbor freight sets will often bring close to $100 or over which is stupid because you can buy those sets new for about $50. To a collector the I.H. set could easily be worth over $300.

Guess i am not that hard core of a collector and i don't go much as to what someone will give at a farm sale like the one i went to to buy a USED set of tourches i set the first bid and a couple other guys came in and the auctioneer then sayes that the tanks don't go with the torchset whooooo wait a min. so i drop off the bidding as i had just saw in the local Farm and Dairy paper that a welding shop and welding supply place ten miles from me that was offeren NEW Harris pro set with cutting tourch three welding tips and a rosebud tip gauges and carrien case and reg. and tanks for 369.95 oh yea plus a cart well we were alrealdy at twoo with out the tanks well auction fever took over and the battel was on to see who could out bid someone else and this bet up OLD set with just a cutting torch end up bringing 475 , I went and bought new.

I am always amazed at how people pay more than new price for things at an auction. I saw a guy pay way more than new price for an anvil (made in China one). I always set a maximum I am going to bid, but some people get caught up in the bidding and just decide they are going to buy it at any cost. They must either have lots of money or no money sense.
