I'm keeping the wheels. I was planning on cutting off the broken push bar that the previous owner added, and cleaning it up. Not sure if I will paint it or not.

What do you think I should ask for it?

i bought one just like that for $400.00 two years ago and had to replace the drag link. you should be able get at least 5-6 hundred for it easy.

does anybody have a steering gear arm like the one on that front-end for sale? i need one for my m.

A original IH wide front for a H would go for around $1000 here.
Swartz Wide fronts go for $400 used.

Hi Mike, Seems to me that WFEs are sort after then. Most of the Hs and Ms sent to the UK in the 1940s were fitted with WFEs. I am the proud ooner of a 1945 H with a WFE. MJ

I was at a very big swap meet in Mn this spring and the first day I must have seen 25 of these fronts. any that were decent and in the 500-800 range were sold that morning even though it was raining pretty hard all day. That style with the cast center tube will bring easly $1000 around here. I got lucky and worked out a trade for 2 of those fronts for a M rear end assembly and a super M hydralic pump and was a very happy camper. One is as perfect as you get with even the original tires on the other has a bit of welding bt still really nice. I wouldnt take less then 500 for my spare.

Last year at a farm auction a never used IHC wide front in the original wood shipping crate (dated 1953) sold for $925.00!
In reality, your wide front is worth more on the tractor it's on than to anyone else.

When you keep the rims and tires, recognize they are the clamp-on old style. Your new narrow front needs to be the same style.

Rims are not too hard to come by, and you might like the new bolt on style rim.

If you really mean you are keeping the wheels, you will be shipping the axle with bare spindles. I would put the wheels with the axle, and the rims and tires too. Maybe keep that right front one, it looks pretty good.

I was going to keep the front wheels/hubs because they are the type my Granfather had. The other type I have seen are the middle hub being flush with the outside edge of the tire. That just doesn't look right to me. Probably because that isn't what he had on his.

I'm getting a Parts tractor. Maybe I can throw it's wheels on there. I'll juse have to swap these tires that I'm not keeping.

About 4 years ago I sold a perfect wide front like that for $400 without the wheels and tires. I had it listed for $500 for several weeks with no bites. I have 2 more wide fronts that are in a little worse condition than yours that I would probably sell for $100 each. The tie rods are welded up and I believe one of them has a spindle that was broken and welded.

Your best bet is to list it on eBay, starting around $150, and let it go for whatever it brings. Be sure to advertise the auction on this site.

Here ends my $0.02

so you know where I am coming from, I fix up an H or M every year or two, and when I get parts, I always see these Wide Front Ends sitting on pallets in the salvage yards, just getting rustier cause they are asking too much. that is why I say, easy to find, hard to buy.

ummmm
keeping the wheels?

without wheels, I'd pay $300

good wheels and tires... maybe $500

I think there is a conspiracy floating around that these wide front ends are scarce as a blue moon. Uncommon yes, rare and hard to find? no.

good luck selling it though
:)

Just like it is, minus the wheels, bare minimum of $600. $800 would be closer and $1,000 isn't too ridiculous.

I agree, I could sell you a brand new Schwartz for around $900, but the Schwartz would not be an original. Original wide fronts like mike has are very hard to find, take a good look at the picture, and then tell me just how many of those you have actually seen?

Mike, Go ahead and send it, the check is in the mail. Seriously, list that thing in the auctions right here on YT, start it around the $800 mark, and see what happens.

In due time. First step is getting the tractor hom (in October) Second step is getting my Parts tractor out of the mud field it's stuck in, and getting it home as well. Third step is taking it apart... then I can think about listing it.
