Need help with an IH 484. The problem is the hydraulics have been acting up when the tractor gets warmed up. After about 3hrs of use , the 3pt hitch will get slow, and jerky, totally unpredictable, sometimes. I went out and mowed some hay with it yesterday , and it always works 100% right up until everything gets good and warmed up, the temp gage gets half way between cold and red, then the problems arrive. I also noticed the clutch pedal got slightly harder to operate when I finished and parked it in the yard. When I shut the tractor off for the night , I tried to lower the sickle bar mower, but the 3pt wouldn’t go down, so I got off and looked it over to see if maybe something got trigged, but I couldn’t see any reason why it wouldn’t go down, and tried standing on the implement in an attempt to lower it but it held it right there, so I got back on the tractor and started it with the 3pt lever still in the down position and it slammed the mower down super hard as soon as it started. Today when I started it, I checked the clutch and the pedal was normal again, the 3pt seemed to work ok, but at full throttle I can hear the hydraulic pump whining pretty loud which I didn‘t notice last night. I have checked the hydraulic oil and it was a lot overfull. Ok I’ll admit, the pump has been whining loudly in the past, so we kept adding some oil and it would make the whining go away temporarily. We have never changed any of the hydraulic oil or filters, but since we never used it all that much and the oil seemed very good and clean so we just never did it. What do you think, question, if it is clogged filters, why does the whining go away when you add more oil since the oil looks clean, and it has plenty?. Also, if it was clogged filters, wouldn’t it act the same when the oil was cold?. I suppose the first thing to do is to change the oil and external filter. Is there an internal filter as well?, seems like I remember hearing about there being screens in there that gets plugged over time with debris from the brake bands?. I know that the parking brake band needs replacing since last year when I had the tractor at the local dealer, I asked them to take a look at the parking brake, and they tried taking up the adjustment, and still didn’t get any parking brake, so they would have to replace the band inside the rear end housing, but since they had already had the tractor for awhile (they replaced the clutch last year) and I needed it at the time, I decided to take it back later, and well, I haven’t done it yet.. I am really hoping the hydraulic pump doesn’t go bad since I am betting it will cost big bucks to replace. Anyways, what does this sound like to you?, obviously it‘s probably not very good that I now have too much oil in there, but we kept adding alittle oil over time as that pump would whine and it did quiet it (I'm thinking it was because we would add while trying to use it and the oil we added was cooler?). Thanks for any input in advance!.
