The hand crank mechanism is stuck on my 39 M. Any one have any tricks to freeing them up? Do I dare heat it? Thanks Paul

If you have the hand crank itself, and its in just the right position, once you have the pentratnt of your choice put on the hand crank and hang some sort of weight off if it. I had that p[robelm on one of my Ms and I put on the handcrank and hung a cement block on it. after a few days I repeated my penetrating oil and rehung the block. I was in no hurry to get it done.

Did my 51 M by first soakinbg everything in Blaster (my preference) but ATF, WD 40 etc is probably ok.After a few days I used a 2by4 and later a crow bar. Oil up all visible parts and use the zerks fitting with grease gun brefire you start. Mine works great now. It will move a little at a time at first. Keep lubricating.

Well, I had the front of the engine all tore apart when I freed mine up. But basically, I squirted it down with oil (ATF in a squirt can) and went at it with a hammer and bar stock. It's pretty tough so you'll have to work to damage it. I don't think heat will be necessary, but if you do heat be careful with the spring that pulls the mechanism away from the crank pulley.
