Now this will probably get some folks upset, but I've notice something I get a charge out of on the board. Screen names. Now I've lurked around here long enough to know that Howard knows his cows, Jon know everything there is to know about magnetos, and Loren knows...well, rust I guess, along with just about everything else.
Then you get the guys named superhman or farmallwiz and the like always asking how to change their oil.
Just an observation, not meant to hurt anyone's feelings.

jjamna is my registered name however, I have been putting my real name on post.Jeff McBride. I have 20 years as a mechanic/electrician in a coal mine. I have yet to give advise just recieve as I know about Hyd's and electricity but engines I need all the help I can get. Will thanks to all who reply to my post however dumb they seem. When someone gives me advise I still double check to make sure it will not do any damage

I started using Farmallgray years ago. I started out using my real name but I got an email from someone I didn't want an email from. Someone else
was using Farmall Red and since I have several gray Farmalls and those are the ones I'm most interested in. I have been using this screen name since 1997 and I use it on all the web forums I visit, even the ones that aren't tractor related.

My name starts with an E, and my buddies all referred to me as E-man. Apparently someone else registered the name-- so I tacked hunt on the end.
I know nothing about fixing tractors other than what I have learned by trying to keep mine going, and what I learned from years of working on a 43MB jeep and 51 M38.

My handle BOBCD is like Mikes in Ca. Bob with "C" middle & "D" last initial of my given name. Moved from Sacramento Calif. area (Garden Valley) 2 years ago and came home home to Pa.
Going to retire in my home state. live in Conneaut Lake Pa. and bought a Farmall super-a
1950 from a local. I know next nothing about tractors, but I love to learn and try to fix stuff. So having said all that, I would like to thank all on the Board for their help in the past. I really do appreciate your advice, I know some of my question is real beginner stuff, but your willing to help us new guys.

Scortch...I've made alot of the same observations! Good thread though. Obviously the name is Billy, and the home is in Stoughton, WI. My background is in industrial refrigeration and air conditioning...though I have since graduated to the sales end of things (it's easier on the back). Jack of all trades and master of some, but always appreciate the help I get on this board. Been posting for...bout' two years now.

Suprisingly, due to that dang Fargo movie, a lot of people have heard of Brainerd, and ya, I say things like How's it going there? and You betcha.
Tractor restoration is a fast growing pasttime, but you can easily tell who's from town and who the farm boys are on this board.

i have been a ih nut for about 40 years, when yt went to reserve names i put in pcy which is my initials Paul Christman Yates it said alredy taken so i added 1066 my e mail is pcy1066@hotmail.com we keep 7 or 8 ih tractors around about all the time, buying and selling and do a good bit of motor overhauls clutches and ta , with the lack of tobacco support we do tractors as a suplemintel income, right now we have a cub a c a 340 dsl a 300, 686 german dsl a black stripe 966 nf a 1066 bs highcrop a 1066 pro farm pulling tractor n constant sorrow. a 1066 3 charger tractor, red warrior. a 3688 sheetmeteled 966 twin turboed tractor ,and a 1086 farm tractor, a 5000 ford and a 3430 nh loader tractor

I associate frequently with several local old iron enthusiasts also named Bob. The use of our the last initials helps keep us maintain individual identities. It just sorta made sense for me to continue the practice on YT Mag.

Besides a few of the OTHER names my wife occasionally uses for me are really not fit for use around the polite company who participate on these pages...(!)

My given name is Norman. Been running from it ever since I was a kid.

Picked Shovelman due to my lifelong fetish with cable rigs - cranes, backhoes and yes, shovels.

I figured the name would be a bit more catchy than the real thing..... .

When I first started posting on YTMag william was already taken. (I've yet to see him post. And back then we didn't have to register names, so I'm not sure how I knew that.) I added my last name initial because that's how we refer to each other in AA.

Merlin is my real middle name that I have went by all my life. Thomas (Tom) is my first name that a lot of people call me now because it is what I sign for legal reasons. I don"t care what I am called, just make sure you call me for supper.
I would also like to say thanks to all the help I"ve gotten from this, and other tractor boards. Some things I couldn"t have done without you.

Well I must come clean, My real name is Jimmy Carl King. In 1959 when I joined the Missouri National Guard, they made me drop the Carl and use C. So when some one calls me Jimmy Carl I have more than likely known them a long time.

Hi Scorth,

T_Bone is my nickname I got while working at Coors 40yrs ago. When we would work over time, Coors would buy us dinner.

Everyone would order hambugers, not me!!!

Just like anything else, a person needs to put time into learning. Doesn't matter if'n it's a book or reading thousands of threads on this website.

Education takes time....period!!!

One thing I can say is that there is not another website like YTMag. You will never find more educated people from the school of hardknocks to book learn'n as you'll find here.

I picked mine up in College and I have had it and used it for about 22yrs. I have gotten alot of good advice from alot of people here and I have met of few of them and I would like to meet a few more.

It seems like everytime I have computer trouble-upgrade-replacement I can't get back on or can't get the password back, and then I go through an identity crisis and register as someone new. I have used GeneP and worldsworstfarmer. I have nothing to hide and not much knowledge to impart.
I was raised around farmall's and still have most of my dads. M, 706 and an F-14 i bought in 1980 for $75. I live on the same farm my great grandfather bought 101 years ago. Central Missouri. I use this forum to tweak my interest. I know everything I read is not 100% but it is my job to check it out. I love this place. Gene

I use my name for the simple reason that it is the name my parents gave me. Easy to remember....good or bad.

I chose my handle because when I first came to this board the two Farmalls I had were just that, rusty. One of those tractors is still that way and I really have no plans to make it look better because it is my loader tractor. If it was pretty to look at I would be afraid to do some of the things that I need it for, so for now, it will be a rustyfarmall.

The name I use comes from 2 places. 1 is an old horse/pony we had that was named oldcoal. And the other from where I learned what I know. I would listen to the old guys when they where working on stuff and I learned how to do what I do from them so OLD fit for me. Most of the guys I learned from have been dead for years and I just try to pass on what they knew to others
