On your slow down question, I'd have to say usually TA. Under most working conditions you want to keep PTO or hydraulic function constant while reducing speed. I wouldn't say I never use the throttle and indeed sometimes use both. Every situation has a judgement call, and the last thing one wants to do is add shock loads to hitches and trailer implement suspensions. Usually the tractor will handle the speed.

For example baling continuous around the field, often time the windrows are not as uniform on the turns. TA will give the baler just a bit better chance to handle that. I remember my 656 wf with 9' haybine, TA on the corner and the haybine wouldn't miss a stem of hay. Plowing is another case for TA especially with big plows 4 or more bottoms. You stay in high with a 5 bottom plow and there will be 3' between entry or exit of first and last bottom. Pull back TA, keeping that hydraulic function constant, and a good plowman could put a straight edge across the ends of furrows at the end of the day, and the end of every furrow will be within 1' of the straight edge.

In summary I'd have to say TA 90% of the time.
