I personally have never tried this, but I have heard some guys say they use JB Weld on theirs to hold it. I use high temp Salastic. Not sure of the number of it right now. Two things for sure, it will probably leak if you don't use something, and there are as many answers as there are Cubs that need rear seals. I don't know why IH quit making the original seal, but I haven't found one yet that will replace it without gooping it up with something to make it stop spinning in the housing.

There is a problem that Ih changed the seal retianer at some poitn ( don't know when)and the orignal seal is no longer available either form IH or form aftermarket suppliers. You can either order a new retianer (over $100) or use a selaer or bearing seat type material to hold it from spinning as well as staking the reatienr to tighten it.

John, I am rebuilding a Cub and when I reassembled the engine that rear main seal didn't fit loose. Could I have a new seal housing? Before I bought it the engine had been recently "rebuilt" in that it had been bored out and some parts replaced. I got the gasket set with the seal in it from NAPA when the NAPA machine shop finished the rebuild for me. Roger

George, My Cub parts book calls for that seal to be an IH part# 364 692 R91.
