Identify IHC plow in Implement Photos please

Your plow is a #8 little genius tractor plow. It has been converted from a clutch lift to a hydraulic lift. The slatted part is the mold board, the part that hits the ground first is the point or share. Above the point and forward of the mold board is the shin. The part that slides against the furrow wall is the land side. They are all bolted on to the frog. I have some slat bottoms for parts.

I wondered if it could have been converted, but usually when someone does that they botch it up with all the wrong parts. These all appear to be the same type of parts. The guy I got it from had a separate hydraulic plow and a separate ground lift so I was able to compare the 3. My plow also has a piece of sheet metal holding the ground lift mechanism from moving. I just wondered if they would have ever been sold with both types of hardware?
Where are you located? The braces from the back of the moldboard to the beam have all been welded/modified on my plow. Have any of those? I think they are different on solid moldboard plows? Are the slats very rare?

James: You probably should follow up with steelfronts. Slat bottom plows are not plentiful. The frog for them is different from the regular GP bottom. You can still buy most wear parts new, but I don't think there is a supply of frogs new anywhere. I have a plow parts book on these various bottoms, however I expect you can find the numbers on the back of each part. Add to that, I think there were two different slat bottoms over the years. I know there are two shown in my book, I've never tried to cross reference them to see how close they are.

I did have some e mail with a guy awhile back, he was wanting to change his plow from slat to regular GP bottoms. From that I know the frog is different.

Hugh,
I just went out and looked at the frogs. The one that looks broken is mostly just worn through. The piece in question appears to be no more than a wedge cut from 1/4 inch steel welded to the bottom of the frog. I should be able to build it up with weld or even easier, cut a new one and weld it on. The old ones are only welded on the underneath, hence they look like a separate piece from the outside. I really only bought this plow because of the slats. I've never personally seen one before. Thanks for your help.
