I've just repaired a '66 cub with similar symptoms. My guess is that it most defintely is a fuel problem. I had a sputtering problem (especially under load) and noticed a slight leak betwen teh two halves of the carb. I removed the carb and the gasket was worn. Since my nearest IH dealer is over 50 miles away and NAPA didn' carry the part I used Permatex blue to make a new gasket. Sure enough, it works like a champ now. Additionally, there was a bit of crud in the nozzle. I've got a carb rebuild kit on order since there are other issues as well.. Perhaps the carb was leaking from one spot and now from another what was a leaky carb is a leaky carb that is now allowing air to get drawn in through the body. If this happens you will have problems! To remove the carb and disasemble took no more than 1/2 hour. To apply the RTV (silicone), let it cure and remount took another hour. Pretty easy to do.. Tony
