Uncle's 1941 Farmall H Tractor

Unc said he paid about $1300 for his new H, in the fall of 1946, when local farmers were still on waiting lists to acquire new tractors after WWII. He got moved up the list when the dealer found out he already had the money, took the next H that came in. Added a WFE about 8 years later, that he got from a scrapped H.

The old folks have great stories to tell. Thought I'd heard most of my uncle's Farmall lore over the years, then found out recently that his new H came without a PTO and what a hassle it was to finally get that corrected. Guy that now owns my uncle's farm would probably sell the M, but I'd only want the H. Was the first of his Farmalls that I ever got to operate as a kid.

My uncle's former H is apparently the only tractor the guy will run. My cousin still does the haying with the M and the 656 that went with the farm, sells the hay, splits the profits with the owner. Cousin tried to teach the guy to rake with the H, think he gave up on him.

My hope is that someday in the near future, the owner might decide he can use the money more than he needs the H. If anything, I might offer to find him an 8N or similar small tractor that he'd be more comfy with and swap for the H.
