Hey guys, I finally got the 1941 B completed this weekend. I'll try and get some photos posted in the next few days.

That project totally depleted my "tractor money" but I've got a SMTA question. I've got a line on a SMTA gas, with narrow front. I know it's hard to tell without pics but here's what I know. Second owner tractor, older gentleman, when he bought it several years ago, it had an overhaul and paint/bodywork. Has great tires and looks really sharp. Very straight, good looking and running tractor. I'd give it a 8.5 out of 10 for older restoration. Old gentleman says make him an offer. Are these tractors in high demand? I've seen them anywhere from $1800-6000. What's a fair price to start at? I need some advice.

I paid $1,900 for a SMTA in 1992. Has power steering, live hydraulics, 3pt hitch, all the works with a narrow front-end. The engine had also been rebuilt and the paint looked great. I thought it was priced high at the time, but, it was just one of those deals where I had looked at a lot of tractors and, when I was pulling up into the driveway, I knew I was going to buy it before I got out of the car. Still runs great. A lot of people have asked about it. They usually say they used to have one and would like to buy one.

Heck, some regular M's are fetching $2,500.00
Like the other fellow said, "Don't cheat an Old Man out of his $$$"

The seller should put a price on it.....he is just hoping you will offer more than he would take.....when they say make an offer ,then put the ball in your park.....offer him a price you would like to pay.....after all he ask for it....if it is in good shape offer $2500 -- $3000.....a rough one around here will bring $3500....good luck Don S.W. I'd start at $1,500 if you want to keep and use the tractor. It may be a fair price to him.

However, if you want to sell the tractor and make a little money, start at $3,500. You can still make $1,000 on it. Don't cheat an old man out of what he has, just because he is not savvy enough to know what the market will bear.

When I hear of how someone "stole" a tractor from a widow, I want to say "didn't know you were a thief".

The price is going to depend on how badly someone wants it. If it is as you desribed I would think that teh bare minimum would be $2500.
It would probably bring around $3500 here in western, Pa.
