When I connected these two, one-way rams, the first time,I filled the lines with fluid. When I pulled the lever back, nothing happened. I moved it forward and they extended. I needed to remove a line to reroute it. This time I did not refill the line with fluid. I moved the line to the other side of the outlet on the tractor,(400)hoping to get it to extend when the lever was pulled back instead of pushed forward. They did not move at all. Do you only get pressure out one side of the outlets when it is set on single? or is it air locked? Will I have to put it back to the side and use it the opposite of how I had intended?

I think most of the other replies are off the mark. I understand that you want to pull back on the lever to raise loader but the ports are set up so you need to push forward.

Put the selector back to "D". If you are still plumbed so that pulling back raises the loader, run the other port back to reservoir. If there is no open port with a pipe plug on the reservoir, put a "T" on the low pressure line that feeds the pump. You will save money by teeing at the reservoir.

These rams came off a cornpicker. They have hoses attached to the bottom of the ram and have a vent cap on the upper port. I am installing them on a 3pt hitch. You are correct in that I wanted the lever to raise the 3pt when it was pulled back, instead of pushed forward. I will refill the hoses by removing the end and see if that helps. Otherwise I will return the hose to the other side of the outlet and learn to push the lever instead of pull it. Thank you everyone.

Switched the line back and it works great. Cut some brush with a Ford brush hog. Went to bed last night with a smile on my face. Felt great.

You should have one line connected to the pressure port of the hydraulic valve. Then tee that line into two lines and run them to the bottom of the actuators. You need to have the hydraulic reservoir full. When you first operate the actuators, you'll need to bleed air out of the actuators. Hopefully, there's a set screw or bleed valve on the upper end of the actuators. As you bleed the actuators, you'll need to refill the reservoir so air doesn't get into the line. And be careful. Hydraulic pressure can hurt and kill. If you're unsure, find someone to help.

Not clear on exactly what you did. Is the cylinder attached to something? They go down by gravity thus have to have weight to pull them down. They also have to be vented, perhaps the vent is plugged. Or, as you say it could be an air lock.

First off to get it the way you want you just have to hook it up on the correct side of the hyds. But we could help you better if you told us what you are working on/ putting them on. One way cylinder work good for loader for the lift becuase of the weight of the loader pushs them back down but in a lot of things they will not do the job needed. More info please

A one way ram needs weight, springs, or another ram to push it back - as in a power angle snow plow.

I'm pretty sure they only have pressure in one direction otherwise you would still be on double acting. You'll probably have to switch it back.
