2-1/2" in the trusty gauge since last night...slow soaking rain!! I can hear the sorghum drinking it up down in the bottom. Guess I won't be cutting it this weekend. Oh well, rather have the rain. Hope everyone is having as good a day as I am. Been close to a foot behind in rain this year.
Kevin

YOU have got to be kidding me. It ONLY rains here when I want to freaken do something outside, whether it be for me or to help someone out. I hate the rain, cause its always when I dont want/need it.

I'm kinda confused by "buy a load of water for the well". What exactly does that involve? What part of the country are you in? Upstate SC here.

UPSTATE NY, We have a 24 foot dug well round tiles made of cement about 4 foot wide andany where between 3 foot and 5 foot high. When you did sometimes you hit a good vane in the ground and have plenty of water and sometimes when the water table goes down to a certain level you need to buy anywhere from 1,000 gals up to what ever your well can handel. The water for me is 31.00 per thousand delevered. When they dug and tiled my well about 13 years ago they dug out the old barn well that was man made from stones but they either needed to go a tad deeper like 30 foot or there just was not any good spring veins there. He dug 24 foot with his big escavator and thats the norm around here but the old men that dug by hand and cemented rocks around the sides went 30 I think and there was to much rock and sediment left in the bottom. I have been told to have them sledge a 6 foot pipe with well point in the bottom and it may take care of the problem. The [problem with drilling a well in this area is we have alot of natural gas pockets here and you get what people call sulfer water. So if you can stand the smell and a little bit of taste you can gop that route. I my self am going to save up and have a new well dug by my pond I know there is a good spring there its just about 600 foot away from the house.
