I have a 1943 H that I am rebuilding and the hood has (approximately 3/16 in dia) holes drilled or punched evenly across the front and rear edge of the hood. What was the purpose of these and were there any factory hoods with these?? There is one on ebay with these holes on one end!!

If you find you need a hood I have 2 of them. One has all the latches missing but the other one has all of them

I patched my M hood several holes by taking the metal bare and fiberglassing a small round patch under each hole and then turning it over and used chopped glass with resin to fill the holes. Could also be done by weld tacking a small peice of metal inside and filling the holes with a brazing stick and grinding smooth in each case

I have seen holes along the sides that were to fasten on canvas winter breaks. But no, there weren"t any holes there from the factory.

Hit each hole with a mig welder, grind smooth.

you should be able to fill the holes. Maybe with lead?
