Is there an adjustment on the control valves on a 340 that changes the pressure when no levers are being used?
When I raise the rear lift or the front loader the engine speeds up as I raise the bucket. It seems that there is no pressure relief when the levers are in the neutral (center position). The pump is working the engine hard.

In other words the engine works harder when no lifting is being done and works much less as the loader is being lifted.

Thanks for any help.

Gary

My 340 does the same thing. I think it is due to the pump running directly off the motor. There is a constant pressure. Once I start moving the implements the oil has somewhere to go and the pump isn't pushing as hard. I can hear the change in the motor RPM but I haven't noticed a significant draw on the power. Perhaps someone more knowledgable about hydarulics can shed some light.
