In reference to thread down about 3 pages, didn't think I had anything on it, then stumbled across it in a mower brochure from ~'73.

Can't totally trust brochure colors but it shows:
Black - complete cutter bar.
White - pitman, grass divider, inner grass rod and power shaft.
Red - every thing else.

Jim: I gather that must be a balanced head mower, right-wrong? The 230 mower caught me off guard, as the last mower I had was the 110. We had a haybine from the eraly 60s. I guess I never paid much attention to mowers after that.

Nope, crank and pitman. Looks like the balanced-head mowers were the top of the line and pitman type were less expensive. The balanced-head models all have 4 digit model numbers. Here is what was listed:
1300 - 3-point balanced-head
230 - 3-point pitman
1100 - trailing balanced-head
1000 - semi-mount balanced-head ( 3-point, Fast-Hitch or standard drawbar)
1100 - side mount balanced-head
3110 - side mount balanced-head (heavy duty)
22 - side mount pitman (for Cub, Super A - 140)

The 230 and 22 are the only models that couldn't be used with a hay conditioner.
