My father in-law is starting to restore a 1929(?) McCormick Deering model 15-30 Gear Drive Tractor. He is in need of the packing seals (actually square-cut O-rings) which provide the water seal between the cylinder sleeves and engine block. Per the instruction book that came with the tractor, the IHC part number is 4222D. The cylinder bore is 4.75" and stroke is 6 inches.I measured the diameter, width and depth of the packing groove in the block and tried to substitute some regular modern day, circular cross section O-rings. They either weren't quite the correct size or they were cut sliding the sleeve in place. Either way, they leaked so had to re-pull the sleeves. I'm sure someone else has had the same problem. So, I'm looking for either original, square cut, direct replacements packing glands or the correct dash size for modern, circular cross-section O-rings that can be substituted. If anyone has any information or words of wisdom, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. John Simms Edwardsville, IL PH 618-692-1799 Bud Muhs, Noble, IL
