Getting back to rotation, any gas IH (Stewart-Warner) tach will work. I think they are all calibrated the same. The main difference between models is the face. MPH in gear bands will differ as well as 540 PTO line.

The diesel tach rotates in the opposite direction and the tach face is a mirror image of the gas tach face.

Come to think of it, you may be right. Some tach faces go to 24(00) and others go to 30(00).

A case in point would be the 560 which turns 1800 rpm and the 660 which turns 2400. They use basically the same engine. I presume the tachs have different scales and different calibration. The parts book gives them different numbers by one digit.

Also, the gears for the "hours" part will be different, depending on what RPMs are used for the "hours at xxx RPM".
