Hey, if any one could find me an original IH ether bottle, or even a close-up colour photo of one, I'd be eternally greatful! Our IH 766, even in the cold north of Canada (well... Ontario!) at -25C err... -13F for you guys... has never required ether. As a restorer, I am sorta fussy about certain things and would like an IH ether bottle for show purposes... doesn't have to be full... it evaportes anyway...

what do you keep the hotrod pluged in and in the house?that is quite a feat for any tractor I have been around tractors for a long time and the only thing I have ever start was my ford pickup with the I.H diesel at -0- here in WI.Course the glow plugs all work good too. What weight of oil do you keep in that beast?

HA!... She certainly likes to be plugged in for a wee bit before starting that's for sure. We've been having a pretty cold winter so far (at least January) and haven't had one morning/evening where she won't start without being plugged in for a bit. Haven't tried her tonite... with a low temp. and a windchill at -35C (err...-31F... sorry!)... so I don't want to eat my words! See what happens tomorrow morning....

At present we have 5W40 in her. It's a great tractor, would give her up for anything that's on the market now!

It's an injection system that pumps a small amount of either into the intake manifold when you hit the either assist button. Helps start them when it's cold out. Hardly ever use it on our 1066, as it'll start down to about 0 with no help at all. Either can get hard on things if you do it wrong. Blown headgaskets and the like. Also messes with your head if you breath too much of it.
