Are these tractors any good? Have a chance to buy one for $450, needs head gasket. What kind of power do they have and how are they to maintain, also what would it take to change it to diesel.

Oh shoot, for $450 I be bringing it home. You'd have to swap engines to make it diesel,...but why? Propane is cheap, clean and trouble free.

First you want a diesel, now you want more power. On 2nd thought, maybe the tractor is not for you. Drop it off anytime, I'll write you a check.

Well that dependes on what year 706 that it is later 66-67 models had a few cubes more and had way more pullen power it ment about a gear higher pullen the same plow with the 291 over the 263 . Now if ya are just figure on it being JUST a head gskt better think again as i can guarantee that you will find that ya need to do more then JUST replace a head gskt. as you will find out that the head needs cut because it is warped and while your at it now that the head is off ya might as well do the valves then replace the valve guides and springs, keepers and that should take care of it till the bottom end start given ya problems as ya tighten up the top and it ain't to long after that she gets a breathing problem .
