I need a winter project. I've overhauled stuff before but never did any painting. I'm thinking I want to start small. I posted awhile back about painting my MDTA. You guys were alot of help, but I'm having second thoughts about "cuttin' my teeth" on MY someday show tractor. I'm thinking it could eventually be worth alot, I'd hate to botch it up. I'd like to try a cub. My shop is pretty small and it seems like parts for these are fairly inexpensive and readily found. Do you think if a guy found a good deal on one he could get his money back after fixin' er up. I know you'll never make money doing this, but is it possible to break even? Seems like they bring about 2-2500 in my area if they look good.

Jay, I am near Genoa, about 8 miles east of Toledo. I have relatives in Findlay and Fostoria.

Bob: I'd tend to look at A or SA, Cub has no sleeves, at 50 years you might get one at the end of rebuilds. A and SA are sleeved just like the big Farmalls, most components very similar, just smaller size. I don't think the SA will sell for much more, but I think you will find it a less expensive fix.

Bob, If reconditioned (rebuilt and not just repianted) with a real good paint job I have seen a Cub bring $6000.00 in Northwest Ohio. Do it right and it could be worth your while. They are a fun tractor to work on. You may not want to part with it after you have one.
