Ted, no this is not a new problem, it has just gotten alot worse this summer The tractor only has 1 remote, and there is nothing on it most of the time. The brakes would go out on it from time to time without much reason, then the brake pedals would have to be pumped to get brakes, and the more you used them, the worse they got, but we would bleed the brakes and they would be ok for awhile again. Hey tgin, where can a MCV be rebuilt for $200?, will any machine shop do it?.

Yep, I guess a few more found yesterdays post. The oil hydraulic oil wasn't changed for a few years, but since the tractor wasn't used all the time, it kinda just slipped by but the engine oil I kept changed right up. The hydraulic oil and filter has been changed recently, but it didn't help it.

Changing the oil & filter didn't help mine either Jon, once it's "gone bad", it's too late. My 2 cents is there's gummy deposits in the valves, and they can't slide the way they have to. Kind of like a carb. thats all gummed up, we don't replace those at 300.00 ea, we clean & put new parts in. The service manual shows the MCV exploded, I don't know how mechanical you are, but I wouldn't hesitate to tear mine apart if needed, especially to save the kind of money you're talking apart.

I had it done at The Case/IH dealer in Rushville Indiana .

Rebuilding a MCV is not that big of a deal if the valves are not scored they just have to slide freely and some new o/rings and springs .

Wow, this is music to my ears TV!, Case IH wants $1,600 for a new one. I don't know how good the valves are, but I got a feeling they might be bad.

Get a break down of the valve and the spec's for it and get into it all ya got to loose is 1600 bucks . Myself now i have not had to get into one of those yet but sure have done a bunch of other MCV's . If i was not pressed for time today i would get into the books and see just what all is involved but got to get to the farm and get with it . Be back on this evening . and may have a chance to look it over . They had to put it together atthe factory so if man made it then man can fix it .

Jon,
You are on the right track with the MCV rebuild. Not that complicated, have done a bunch of them over the years. With all the contamination in the hyds am sure it needs repaired. Do Not overlook the pto spool adjustment after you put the valve back on.

Hey Ted, do you work for a Case IH dealership?. I just called out there a short time ago and asked about rebuilding it and they looked into it and got back to me, and they say a kit is not availible, and I would have to get the complete housing too, which is something I don't understand, because if I got the housing too, then that would be the whole darn thing?. but he told me to keep looking and if I find something to let him know.

Not employed now, retired 2oo5 after 45 yrs. in business. As Nat said there is not a kit. just need gaskets & orings to repair. Usually can polish valves & bore valve goes in. Can never tell what parts CNH will discontinue but should be able to get gasgets & Oring.

I want to clarify where I called, I called my local dealer where my tractor is, and I wanted to ask you if you knew what the part number of the rebuild kit is if it is still availible and you work for Case IH because they could not find one on their computer?.

Hey Jon,

Not everything comes as a "kit." Orings are mostly standard, and the springs should be available as individual parts. Basically you need the parts book with a breakdown diagram, a pencil, and a pad of paper to make yourself a shopping list.

Parts guys rarely have a working knowledge of what they're getting parts for. You can't expect them to be smart for you...

Jon, Checked with the local CNH dealer. All orings and gaskets to repair MCV are aviable,just have to get indivdualy.
