Can I remove front end and frame rails from an H a

I was wondering if I can remove the entire front end and frame rails from an H, all while leaving the motor bolted to the bellhousing? I want to do this so that I can sandblast the motor and inside the framerails and paint everything.

We got tired of dancing with front ends and designed our front end dolly. Two bolts in the front end, spread the rails and the entire bolster slides straight out. Check it out at splittingstands.com. As the other guys said, be careful. It"s really heavy.

yes, one...single....bolt... will hold that block in place.

DJP: Wide front or narrow? IF narrow, remove front wheels. Then place a pallet under front end. Block to either wide front axle or in case of narrow front block to front casting. Tie front end to pallet with ratchet straps. Place a bottle jack under clutch housing. Take things apart, then use a pallet jack to roll the front end away.

yes, just block it up and do it. Done it many times. Be sure you have something hefty to hold the front wheel assy that will set it aside for you when the rails are ready to come off.

That front bolster assembly is heavy and awkward, you'll want a cherry picker or chain hoist or something.
