Hi Guys,

The ol' 1066 is getting a new floor today. First thing and right off the bat tho, it needs new pedal boots.

What would be wrong with makin' 'em out of an old truck inner tube? Just a tiny hole in the rubber, stretch it tight over the pedal/shaft, give it plenty of material for movement and bolt 'er down?

Allan

my expierience with innertubes is that in the sunlight they won't last the summer. Cowhide & baling wire would be my choice.

Allan, Mornin! That ought to work! Thin flat rubber like mud flap, or elevator belting would work too. just need to take in account the floor stop on the peddle, make sure it goes clean to the floor. It might be a cleaner assembly. Just a thought if the intertube setup doesn't work as well as hoped.
You could also coat the floor with some sort of spray-in or brush-in truck bed liner, before you put down the new mat. It should help cut down on dust and noise.
Good Luck, Have Fun! I'll watch for your completetion on this porition. Later,
John A.

IH 66 series boots.... in reply to Allan In NE, 10-09-2006 05:25:56
You could do that or just buy them from IH. They are still offered and are molded in the correct shape for the pedal and have the mounting holes in them already.

The OEM boots are much thicker than a tire innertube and will last longer.
