if i hold the stick it will usualy stay in 5th but if i let go it pops right out with a grind. please tell me it is not an expensive fix, dont care bout the labor since wheet is in now and dont need it till spring but dont want it down long either..... ..... ..... .....

If I remember right you bought an H and resold it for $500 profit at the local bar so you should have the money for the new gears.

Did the one you sold have good gears?

not expensive Less tha $300 will buy new aftermarket gears. You can put them in yourself at home.

Its not hard, but its gonna take some time. You have to remove the cover over the transmission and final drive. (The big cast iron one that the steering column and seat attach to). You have to remove the hydraulic pump, and remove the coupling between the clutch and the input shaft of the transmission. The you can remove the transmission input shaft through the belly of the tractor. After this, the 4th/5th slider gear can be slid off the shaft. I also moved the detent in my shifting rail a little bit (1/16") so that it would really go into 5th gear. Its not hard, but your in for a bit of a job.
