Allen, you seem to be the expert. My 666, the position lever doesn't seem to operate the 3point hitch. I have to use the draft control lever to raise and lower it. It just happened suddenly. Before that, I don't think the draft control was working properly. The mounted plow pulled a lot harder than it should. I have 3-16's and it doesnt handle them very well. Any ideas?

Allan I don,t want to step on any toes here, if I remember right if the torsion bar broke some place the hitch should go all the way up and stay there. I thing there is a problem with the lever. If the draft lever it to far back it will lift the hitch just about all the way up but not as far as the lift lever. I would do as you said move the draft lever all the way down and see what happens.

Hi Guy,

Nope, I hear ya.

In my clumsey way I'm saying the same thing as you. Torsion bar isn't broke as in broke, but the linkage could darned sure be out of wack in there.

It has to be adjusted correctly to control correctly.

Allan

Oh No,

I'm no expert in any way, shape or form. Just an old guy that sometimes gets lucky and remembers this 'er that. :>)

Anyways, sounds like you're "over center" on the controls. Have you tried pushing that draft control clear forward (off)? That should give the raise/lower control back to the position handle.

If you've already tried that, I'd suspect that the clamp around the torsion bar has broken, slipped or in some other way it and/or it's linkage has gone south on you. Especially, if it happened all of a sudden.

If the darned draft would not control the plow depth right, I really think something is wrong with the draft sensing linkage.

You could pull the center link bolster and take a look inside. See if that linkage appears to be "sloppy" and/or not connected right.

Hope this helps some,

Allan

Thanks guys. I'll check the lever clamp. A while back it was slipping and Allen showed me where to tighten it, and when I did the bolt brokeand I put in a new one. It still wasn't as tight as it should be.
