Got this 340 and where the line goes into the bolt on block at the steering wheel one of the 2 lines leaks. Its not from the o-rings but the line its self. Can a guy braze up this line to stop the leak and or can you still buy new lines for it??
Thanks

Heat the metal until you can see it "sweat" then add the brazing rod in small quantities. Use flux coated rod or dip bare rod in flux sparingly. The line probably cracked from vibration or fatigue, & brazing will "spread" the fatigued area as you work, making a good repair job.

Old,
Brazing will work Braze a steel patch over it if it is a hole. cover the sides 1/4" or so. If it is a crack near the fitting/block, I would braze weld (meaning build up some thickness to the bronze) to help it stop cracking. Don't over heat the bronz, the zink will vaporize out of it and it will be no where near as strong. If white smoke and bright firelooking things are happening it is too hot. From my experience. Good evening to you, JimN

Well I'm a pretty good welder and I also at one time did a lot of soldering so I figure I should do ok with brazeing, I hope.
